Using the empirical rule, atleast 83.964% of the listing prices lie between -2 and +2 standard deviations from the

Comparing with the actual data, we can see that both the listing prices and the square footages are almost

 

normally distributed since the percentages are close to 89% which is the percentage for normal distribution. From

 

the histogram, we can also see that the distribution of listing prices is almost nearly bell shaped though slightly

58% of the population. Followed by four bedrooms at 23% and two bedrooms at 14%. The

 

minority of the homes were made up of one, five, and six bedrooms which had an accumulated

 

total of 5%. room When designing the histogram, our team came to the conclusion that more people

 

listed houses in the range of $100,000 and $149,999 than any other price range.

 

Approximately, 26% of the homeowners listed homes within this range. The next

 

most frequent home listing was between $150,000 and $199,999. Approximately,

 

18% of homeowners listed homes within this range. The third most frequent home

 

listing was between the ranges of $50,000 and $99,999 making up approximately

 

16% of the home market. The histogram shows that nearly 60% of the homes listed

 

were between $50,000 and $199,999. The other 40% of the market are either more

 

of less than this range. The distribution depicted in the histogram shows some

 

element of normal distribution as it is almost bell shaped though just slightly skewed

 

to the left. 8 Chebyshev?s Theorem vs. Empirical Rule

 

Chebyshev?s Theorem is a statistics technique which is applicable to any form of a

 

data set. This method describes the lowest possible proportion of measurements which lie

 

within any given number of standard deviations.

 

The Empirical Rule is an approximation statistics technique which is applicable to any

 

form of data set whose relative frequency histogram is bell-shaped. This method estimates the

 

measurements which fall within 1, 2 and 3 standard deviations from the mean. After applying

 

to the provided sets of data, the following summary of different parameters computed through

 

the price and the square footage

 

From Chebyshev's theorem application, it has established that at least 100% of all

 

housing price listings are between -2 and +2 SD from the component average, whereas,

 

99.99% of the housing floor size falls within the same range.

 

Through the Empirical Rule, at least 83.96% of all housing price listings are within a

 

range of -2 and +2 standard deviations from the average value. For square footages, at least

 

89.51% falls between -2 and +2 standard deviations from the average.

 

By comparing the listing prices and square footages with actual data, it can be

 

concluded that they are normally distributed because their percentages are not far from 89%,

 

which identifies with a normal distribution. Further, the shape of histogram for listing process
