Show Description Hide Description Instead of a final exam this semester, you will do a final project that involves

attending--in person--a public meeting of a group of officials. You must get my approval for

the meeting you will cover.

You may cover a public meeting of any official group, like a state Legislature or legislative

committee; or a meeting of any city council, county council/county commissions, school

board, zoning commission or other governmental body. If you live on a military base, you

may cover any regularly scheduled meeting of officials that is open to the members of your

community.

You may not cover a meeting that is not open to the public (or, in the case of a military

base, not open to the general community).

You may not cover an informal meeting; it has to be an official meeting of officials--most

likely government officials.

You may not cover a meeting that you will participate in or offer your opinion at.

You may not cover a meeting that you do not attend live and in person. You may not cover

a meeting that you watch on video/YouTube either live or later. You must be

there. (Exceptions may apply for certain extenuating circumstances. Please consult your

instructor privately for details.)

Use the assigned Meeting Stories reading as a further resource to understanding the kinds

of public meetings that will work for this assignment. By 11:59 p.m. this Thursday you must post your formal final project proposal and

meeting agendas as a response to this post. That proposal should include the

following information about TWO meetings that you are available to attend in

person between now and the end of Week 6. (You need to identify two in case one falls

through or in case you attend one and it does not produce any newsworthy action for your

story.)

--the name of the official group whose meeting you will cover

--the time, date and location of the meeting

--the topic of the meeting. Example: The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the

College Park City Council

--the agenda of the meeting. Call the office of the group that is meeting and ask for the

agenda or ask what might be coming up on the agenda. If the meeting is a public meeting,

the agenda is public information. If the agenda hasn't been published yet, review news

accounts of previous meetings to find out what might be coming up on the organization's

agenda then call the organization to confirm as much as you can.

--an explanation why the meeting is newsworthy. Find out if there are any controversial

items on the agenda or any items pending for which votes are scheduled. See if there are

items coming up that the organization has been dealing with for some time.

Post this information here no later than 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday. Failure to post

this information by the deadline may result in a 10 percent reduction in your final

project?s final grade. The final project itself is worth 25 percent of your final grade

for this course.

Once you have posted your proposal, please review all of your classmates'

posts, providing advice on how they might ago about researching background material for

their embedded links, the kinds of questions they might ask before and after the meeting,

whom they should interview during pre-meeting preparations, etc., to at least two of your

classmates by 11:59 p.m. ET Sunday.

If you're not sure if your meeting will qualify for this assignment, just ask me. But if you

cover an unapproved meeting, you won't get credit for the story; if you cover an

unapproved meeting and it turns out that it doesn't qualify as newsworthy enough for the

assignment, you may not get credit either.

Rating: 0 out of 5 stars I did a little more research and found two meetings coming up later this month.

One is called the Welcome Aboard Breef where the Base Commander of Quantico, VA

informs all newcomers about events and programs all throughout the base. It's on

September 19th from 0830-1030 at The Clubs in Quantico, Virginia. The meeting is open

for anyone on base as they inform about recreational, educational, and medical services

along with tons of other material. It's newsworthy for everyone to be updated and kept up

with what's new in the area, along with finding ways to help those who could use some of

these services.

https://www.facebook.com/events/463091497169690/

Another one I was able to find was a meeting on base in Quantico, VA about overcoming

debt. The name is, in fact, "Overcoming Debt" and is being presented by The Human

Resources and Organizational Management Branch (HOMB). It will be held at the on

base theater at Little Hall on September 28th, 2016 from 1300-1430. This meeting is to

help people get out of that paycheck to paycheck habit and get themselves into a different

lifestyle without any debt. They also inform people where it's good to have debt and

where it's bad. I feel this is newsworthy because it's something most of us have

gone/going through and I think this kind of information could help out a lot of people. I

couldn't find any links to the meeting but I attached to this post what I found from my

work.

I really hope these meetings are something up to par! Anyway, thank you for your time

Proposal #1

Engineer Maintenance Company Field Day Formation Meeting

17:00, September 15th

BRKS 472

FPO, AP 96373-846

-Formation meeting for cleaning up inside and around barracks

-This meeting includes what are the plans for cleaning up around and inside the barracks

also a summary of how the company's' work progress has been during the week

-This meeting is newsworthy because it is a insider on one of the many reasons marines

are different from other branches of the military. It shows how marines are perfectionist

and how they take a day out of the week to clean for hours and get inspected by an staff

non-commissioned officer the following day.

Proposal #2

Engineer Maintenance Company Safety Brief Meeting 16:00, September 16th

CLR-35, 3rd MAINT BN

UNIT# 38426

FPO, AP 96373-8426

-Weekly meeting on what to do and what not to do on weekend liberty

-Warrant Officer and 1st Sgt gives a brief and reminds marines to stay out of trouble and

passes word from commander.

- This is newsworthy because the meeting discusses and describes in detail some of the

many reasons the military uphold and maintains its military standards and are reminded

weekly on how to behave and to always look after one another when we're on liberty

So, living in South Korea on a military base for a year is a tough thing when it comes to

having to attend anything live. Luckily in the next few weeks there are two open

meetings coming up for those who live here. Proposal #1

Town Hall Meeting (Subjected to Change)

Held at the Camp Stanley Theater

September 14, 2016.

In the Town Hall meeting, we have a sergeant major joining us to talk.

The only information I was given when I asked was mainly about the move coming up

for the battalion here and when that should be happening. No other information was

given about the event.

Proposal #2

DFAC Counsel Meeting

September 23, 2016.

Camp Stanley DFAC.

Here we talk with the DFAC crew about what needs to change for those eating at the

DFAC and what we enjoy.

This is held every 3rd Friday of the month. It's important because this is the only dining

facility on this camp for the soldiers here and it's helping them provide and hear what

they want there.

We have top-notch tutors who can do your essay/homework for you at a reasonable cost and then you can simply use that essay as a template to build your own arguments.

You can also use these solutions:

  • As a reference for in-depth understanding of the subject.
  • As a source of ideas / reasoning for your own research (if properly referenced)
  • For editing and paraphrasing (check your institution's definition of plagiarism and recommended paraphrase).
This we believe is a better way of understanding a problem and makes use of the efficiency of time of the student.
